  Taken over by Scoff and Quaff, the Old Beams has had some major work done on it and is now a nice place to eat with friendly staff and good food like most of the other gastro pubs in the chain. Only slight criticism is that as a consequence of the much needed renovation work the Old Beams ambience is currently a bit clinical. A classic old pub is now perhaps a bit too squeaky clean and new, hopefully it will acquire some character over the coming months.
  Quality of staff seems to vary, last time we went they were friendly and polite but screwed up our order completely. Not as yet in the same league as the other local Scoff and Quaff The Crown and Sandys.

  Excellent meal this weekend, 30 of us with starters and mains and I don't think there were any complaints! Seabass was gorgeous, and we came all the way from a fishing town in Devon to try it! :)

  Arrived three minutes to nine and they still served us. We both had Sea Bass on Crushed new potatoes with cherry tomatoes and sandwich, very nice meal cooked extremely well.
